ENGLISH-LANGUAGE GAMES, COMICS, and EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS FOR UKRAINIANS IN SCHOOLS, YOUTH CENTERS, SHELTERS and HOSPITALS
WHAT IT IS
With the ongoing war, there is a critical need for reading material, positive distraction, entertainment and any item that can support literacy. Not only is English now one of Ukraine’s official languages, but comics and games have a unique ability to draw in readers and participants. Comics and games are valuable for education as well as entertainment and diversion.
In collaboration with USA retailers, publishers, and distributors, surplus inventory of comics and games will be donated and distributed through a network that starts in western Ukraine and ends in hundreds of classrooms, shelters, libraries and rehabilitation centers across the country.

HOW IT WORKS
Donations of surplus inventory of games, comics, and educational materials are sourced from distributors and retailers.
All donations are centralized at Meest-America in New Jersey then shipped to western Ukraine.

HOW IT STARTED
Games and Comics for Ukraine™ was founded by high-school friends David Wheeler and David Dodson after Wheeler asked if Ukrainians could use English-language games and comics. After polling Ukrainian educators, Dodson and his wife Natalya discovered a great need for this kind of material.
As the owner of a franchise of Texas games and comic book stores, Wheeler immediately went to work soliciting donations. Dodson created a video pitch that was shown at trade show conventions across the country.
The response has been wonderful. Our first shipment will be more than ten tons of games, comics, and educational periodicals to more than 400 Ukrainian schools and youth centers.
